Come and enjoy the highly tactile medium of clay! In this hands-on studio program, young artists will develop and refine a variety of hand-building techniques: pinching, coiling, slab construction and modeling. Students will learn surface decoration techniques, working with under glazes, low-fire glazes and high-fire glazes. Past projects have included turtle pencil holders, sea serpents, masks, hanging circus figures, self-portrait busts, plates, cereal bowls, and mugs and more. While the focus is on hand-building techniques, students also get to try out their skills on a potter's wheel.
